Soccer Game Preview: North Wilkes vs. North Surry

North Wilkes is 0-10 against North Surry since March of 2018 but things could change on Friday. The Vikings will challenge the Greyhounds at 5:30 p.m. North Wilkes has given up an average of 3.5 goals per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

North Wilkes is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Forbush, falling 6-0. While losing is never fun, North Wilkes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 465th, while Forbush are ranked 224th).

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last game, North Surry made sure to put some goals up on the board against Surry Central on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 4-1 margin over the Golden Eagles. The result was nothing new for North Surry, who have now won five contests by three goals or more so far this season.

Catherine Chaire and Raelynn Easter scored all four of North Surry's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 15 goals.

North Surry's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-3-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three matchups. As for North Wilkes, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9-1.

North Wilkes might still be hurting after the 4-0 defeat they got from North Surry in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
