Baseball Game Preview: Gaffney Indians vs. Wade Hampton Generals

The Gaffney Indians will head out on the road to square off against the Wade Hampton Generals at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Gaffney's pitching crew has only allowed 1.4 runs per game this season, so Wade Hampton's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Gaffney took a loss when they played away from home last Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over Wade Hampton. While the Indians didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Ethan Harvey looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

On the hitting side, Gaffney saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carson Bailey, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave Bailey a new career-high in hits. Brody Bright also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Gaffney's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Wade Hampton, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
