Recap: Chiefland Indians vs. Lafayette Hornets

On Tuesday, the Chiefland Indians's game was all tied up 20-20 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They escaped with a win against Lafayette by the margin of a single free throw, 46-45. The win made it back-to-back wins for Chiefland.

Chiefland found their leader in underclassman Brianna Bell, who scored 15 points along with four steals. Bell is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least four every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Laila Ingram, who scored 12 points.

Lafayette lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Havyn Richardson, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and three steals. Richardson continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelby Lyons, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds.

Chiefland's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-11. As for Lafayette, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-7 record this season.

Chiefland will take on Hawthorne at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hawthorne will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something Chiefland surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lafayette, they and Hilliard will face off at 5:00 p.m. on February 7th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Lafayette focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 34 on Tuesday.
