Basketball Game Preview: Lake View Wild Gators vs. Latta Vikings

Lake View and Latta are an even 4-4 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The Lake View Wild Gators will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Latta Vikings at 7:45 p.m. Lake View will come in still looking for their first win of the season.

Last Tuesday, Lake View lost to Carvers Bay at home by a 54-37 margin.

Despite the defeat, Lake View saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Cameron Wheeler posted four points and six rebounds. Jonathan Carter was another key player, putting up five points along with five assists and four steals.

Even though they lost, Lake View smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive games.

Latta played against Fairmont and lost via forfeit.

Latta's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Lake View, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

Lake View came out on top in a nail-biter against Latta when the teams last played back in January of 2024, sneaking past 53-50. Will Lake View repeat their success, or does Latta have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
