Baseball Recap: North Schuylkill Takes a Loss

North Schuylkill dropped down to 6-3 on Monday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the South Williamsport Mounties by a score of 8-7. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mounties apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

Chase Slotcavage was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Stephen Minahan made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That home run was his first of the season. Aaron Brayford was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

As for South Williamsport, they pushed their record up to 5-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of four runs across that stretch.

On South Williamsport's side, they saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kamdyn Bubb, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run. Another was Levi Butler, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. North Schuylkill will challenge Tri-Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for South Williamsport, they will face off against Warrior Run at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
