Basketball Recap: Dock Mennonite Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Dock Mennonite won the last time they faced Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech and things went their way on Saturday too. The Dock Mennonite Pioneers came out on top against Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech by a score of 58-46. Given the Pioneers' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech are ranked 506th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech still got an impressive performance from Hasan Laws, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. Makaii Akridge was another key player, putting up 13 points and three steals.

Dock Mennonite has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.2 points per game. As for Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Dock Mennonite will host MAST Community Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Carver High School of Engineering & Science at 3:15 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
