Baseball Game Preview: Mount Tabor Spartans vs. East Forsyth Eagles

Mount Tabor hasn't had much luck against East Forsyth recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Spartans will venture away from home to take on the Eagles at 6:30 p.m. Mount Tabor will be strutting in after a win while East Forsyth will be coming in after a defeat.

Mount Tabor's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Parkland with a sharp 19-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spartans.

Charlie Young made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Mount Tabor is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-11 otherwise. Young was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Chase Turner was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Koonin, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Mount Tabor always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Parkland only posted an OBP of .286.

Meanwhile, East Forsyth was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of West Forsyth.

East Forsyth's defeat dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Mount Tabor, their record now sits at 6-12.

Mount Tabor might still be hurting after the 15-5 loss they got from East Forsyth in their previous matchup on April 4th. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
