Basketball Recap: JJ Brisbon's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Barrie over Burke

On Monday, Barrie didn't have quite enough to beat the Burke Bengals and fell 36-34. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Barrie came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 39th in Maryland, while Burke is ranked 217th in District of Columbia).

Barrie's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was JJ Brisbon, who posted six points along with six rebounds and four steals. Brisbon is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Adams, Jr., who put up eight points.

Barrie has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Burke, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Barrie has already played their next matchup (against Chelsea), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Burke wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 51-27 defeat against Spencerville Adventist Academy on the 15th.
