Softball Recap: Calais Takes a Loss

After flying high against Shead on Thursday, Calais came back down to earth. The Blue Devils lost 15-5 to the Machias Bulldogs on Monday. The Blue Devils have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Alexis Bowen made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Ellsmore, who went 2-for-3 with one home run.

Calais' loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Machias, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.

Looking ahead, Calais will face off against George Stevens Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14 runs per game on average), something the Blue Devils will no doubt try to take advantage of. Machias does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
