Baseball Game Preview: Evangelical Christian Eagles vs. Clarksville Academy Cougars

The Evangelical Christian Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Clarksville Academy Cougars on Wednesday. Evangelical Christian will be strutting in after a win while Clarksville Academy will be coming in after a defeat.

Evangelical Christian came out on top against Christian Academy of Knoxville on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run first inning. The Eagles never let the Warriors get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Clarksville Academy has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging four runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit two weeks ago. They lost 15-5 to Davidson Academy. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Bears: they've now lost three in a row.

Brennen Gibson and Evan Leonard did some serious damage despite the final result: Gibson went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Leonard went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

Evangelical Christian has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-9 record this season. As for Clarksville Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 22-10.
