Softball Game Preview: Bell Eagles vs. Narbonne Gauchos

The Bell Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Narbonne Gauchos at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

Bell can't be too happy about their upcoming road game considering what happened when they opened their season away from home on Wednesday. They lost 11-1 to Wilson.

Bell saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Telly Mendoza, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases. Another was Hailey Medina, who earned one run and two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Narbonne got the win against USC-MAE on Wednesday by a conclusive 16-8. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Gauchos.

Samantha Dillon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and five unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 14 Ks.

At the plate, Narbonne got a massive performance out of Camila Lopez, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Lopez has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cheyenne Bennett, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Narbonne was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .316 or higher in seven consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Bell suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Narbonne in their previous meeting back in February of 2025. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
