Basketball Recap: Northridge Comes Up Short

Northridge was the 52-41 winner over Roy when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Northridge Knights opened the new year with a less-than-successful 53-42 defeat to the Roy Royals. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Leading Roy to victory were Ariana Strain and Rihanna May. Strain went 5 for 8 on her way to 14 points and five rebounds, while May posted 15 points and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Strain a new career-high in assists (four). Jerzee Hart was another key player, putting up ten points and eight rebounds.

Northridge now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Roy, they moved to 3-7 with that win, which also ended their seven-game losing streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northridge will take on Bountiful at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Bountiful is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.3 points per game this season. As for Roy, they will challenge Bonneville at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Roy is facing Bonneville at the right time seeing as Bonneville is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
