Baseball Game Preview: Midland Rebels vs. Reeves Raiders

The Midland Rebels will face off against the Reeves Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Midland will be strutting in after a victory while Reeves will be coming in after a loss.

Last Tuesday, Midland beat Hathaway 8-3. The win continues a trend for the Rebels in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won four in a row.

Andrew Martin made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI.

In other batting news, Drew Babineaux was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Midland is 3-1 when Babineaux posts two or more runs, but 6-10 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Reeves lost 16-2 to Lake Arthur on Monday. The Raiders haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Midland's victory bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Reeves, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-13.

Midland came out on top in a nail-biter against Reeves in their previous meeting back in February, sneaking past 6-4. Do the Rebels have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
