Football Game Preview: Oxnard Yellowjackets vs. Ventura Cougars + How To Watch

The Oxnard Yellowjackets will challenge the Ventura Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Oxnard has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with ten straight losses, while Ventura will come in with four straight wins.

Oxnard is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They fell just short of Buena by a score of 28-26 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Yellowjackets have suffered since August 22nd.

Despite their loss, Oxnard saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Gavin Liston, who rushed for 94 yards and two TDs on only seven carries, and also threw for 109 yards and one touchdown, was perhaps the best of all. Another back making a difference was Jae Lomelin, who rushed for 144 yards and one score while picking up 7.6 yards per carry.

Meanwhile, Ventura was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Oak Park 35-7. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won five matchups by 28 points or more so far this season.

Ventura's win came from a few key players Oxnard will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Tristan Savage, who picked up 62 receiving yards and one touchdown, and also punched in a pair of TDs on the ground. Derek Garcia was another key signal caller, throwing for 196 yards and a pair of TDs on only 18 passes.

Oxnard's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Ventura, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
