Softball Game Preview: Norco Cougars vs. Poly Bears

The Norco Cougars are taking a road trip to face off against the Poly Bears at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Norco comes in on 20 and Poly on 12.

Norco is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past Marina 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cougars have posted since April 11th.

California typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Poly proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Condors by a score of 7-3.

Marley Audoma made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 26 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Violet Espin, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Elecia Figueroa was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Norco's record now sits at 26-2. As for Poly, their record is now 22-7.

Everything went Norco's way against Poly when the teams last played back in February, as Norco made off with a 10-0 victory. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
