Basketball Recap: Patel Comes Up Short

Patel extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 2-12. They were beaten by the Seffner Christian Crusaders 81-24. While losing is never fun, the Trailblazers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 779th, while the Crusaders are ranked 219th).

Despite the loss, Patel still got an impressive performance from Aiden Shannon, who posted eight points. Cayden Williams also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

As for Seffner Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 21 points or more this season.

Seffner Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Isaiah Brown led the charge by putting up 20 points. Those 20 points gave Brown a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Vernon Lee Jr, who had 20 points.

Patel didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 76-48 defeat against Bridge to Independence on the 16th. As for Seffner Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 75-64 loss against City of Life Christian Academy on the 16th.
