Baseball Recap: Callisburg Wildcats vs. Paradise Panthers
Callisburg extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 15-9 in the process. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Paradise Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-4 on Tuesday.
As for Paradise, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games.
For Paradise's part, they got a great performance from Braden Wilson as he struck out nine batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Wilson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Carter Mara, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Leland Mattern, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.
