Softball Game Preview: Westfall Mustangs vs. Northwest Mohawks

The Westfall Mustangs will venture away from home to face off against the Northwest Mohawks at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Westfall is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.

Westfall couldn't beat Hillsboro on Wednesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fourth inning. The Mustangs lost 13-6 to the Indians.

Westfall saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aubrey Caudy, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Jill Butcher was another, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Northwest posted their closest win since May 20, 2025 on Monday. They skirted past South Webster 3-2.

Annika Carpenter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up nine Ks.

Northwest is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Westfall, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-11.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Westfall hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Northwest struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.5 home runs.
