Volleyball Recap: Clever Takes a Loss

If Clever was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Reeds Spring last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Clever Blue Jays fell just short of the Strafford Indians by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blue Jays of the 3-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture last Tuesday.

Clever took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The final score came out to 25-17, 20-25, 18-25, 25-22, 15-9.

Addie Gilmore paced Clever's offense, picking up 14 kills. Gilmore got some help from Audrey Riley and her 25 assists. Finally, Gilmore was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high four blocks.

Clever has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 23-10-2 record this season. As for Strafford, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 30-5-1.

Clever does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Strafford, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-2 defeat against Logan-Rogersville on the 26th.
