Baseball Recap: Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter Takes a Loss

Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter extended their losing streak to six on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 1-7 in the process. They lost 13-1 to the Monrovia Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-1 on Tuesday.

As for Monrovia, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Monrovia's part, Zach Oliphant was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Oliphant has become a key player for the Bulldogs: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Grant Kluemper, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter will take on Bethesda Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Patriots have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.56 runs per game on average), something the Raiders will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Monrovia, they will face off against Indianapolis Shortridge at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs are facing the Blue Devils at the right time seeing as the Blue Devils are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
