Softball Recap: Southport Wins Going Away Against Greenwood

Southport got themselves on the board against Greenwood on Monday, but Greenwood never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Woodmen. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won four matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Lindsey Vaught was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ally Kiefner, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Southport always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.

The win got Southport back to even at 5-5. As for Greenwood, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Southport will welcome North Central at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Greenwood, they will square off against Perry Meridian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Woodmen are facing the Falcons at the right time seeing as the Falcons are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
