Basketball Recap: Lowry Buckaroos vs. Spring Creek Spartans
Lowry was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a hard 69-50 fall against the Spring Creek Spartans. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Buckaroos this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 65-53 on January 7th.
Lowry lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Matthew Casalez, who went 5 of 11 en route to 12 points. Jovanny Cuevas was another key player, putting up eight points and four steals.
Spring Creek found their leader in sophomore Scott Bylund, who went 9 for 20 on his way to 23 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bylund has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Djrevan Demick, who went 5 of 8 en route to 14 points and five steals.
Lowry's loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Spring Creek, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-5.
Lowry didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 60-37 defeat against Elko on the 25th. Spring Creek has also already played their next game, an 80-54 win against Churchill County on the 25th.
