Basketball Recap: Chief Ivan Blunka Skates Past Newhalen with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Chief Ivan Blunka). They breezed by the Newhalen Malamutes to the tune of 76-40 on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Chief Ivan Blunka is also on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.2 points per game. As for Newhalen, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Chief Ivan Blunka does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Newhalen, they will take on Susitna Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Susitna Valley will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Newhalen surely won't give up without a fight.
