Basketball Recap: Skidmore-Tynan Bobcats vs. Port Aransas Marlins

After a string of five wins, the Skidmore-Tynan Bobcats's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 53-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Port Aransas. If Skidmore-Tynan was looking for revenge after losing 43-35 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the defeat, Skidmore-Tynan had strong showings from Bennett Martinez, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds, and Cole Rivers, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and four steals. Rivers hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for nine straight games.

Skidmore-Tynan's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 22-5. As for Port Aransas, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-9 record this season.

Skidmore-Tynan will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Yorktown is no doubt hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses. As for Port Aransas, they will head out on the road to challenge the Eagles at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Woodsboro will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1497th, while the Marlins are ranked 707th).
