Basketball Recap: Wil Dabbondanza's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Magruder over Sherwood

Magruder lost against Sherwood back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Magruder Colonels came up short against the Sherwood Warriors, falling 79-54. While losing is never fun, the Colonels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while the Warriors are ranked 16th).

Magruder lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Wil Dabbondanza, who posted 11 points and three steals. That's the most steals he has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Yannick Mbonda, who scored five points in addition to nine rebounds and three blocks.

Magruder has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-10 record this season. The victory made it two in a row for Sherwood and bumps their season record up to 20-2.

As of now, neither Magruder nor Sherwood have any future games scheduled.
