Softball Game Preview: Random Lake Rams vs. Laconia Spartans

The Random Lake Rams will head out on the road to challenge the Laconia Spartans at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Random Lake will come into the match with an undefeated record on the line.

Random Lake barely beat Reedsville the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rams were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Panthers on Saturday. Considering the Rams have won three games by more than nine runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Laconia suffered their biggest defeat since April 8, 2024 on Saturday. They lost 15-4 to Pacelli. The Spartans have struggled against the Cardinals recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Random Lake pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Laconia, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Random Lake came out on top in a nail-biter against Laconia when the teams last played back in May of 2018, sneaking past 7-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
