Football Recap: Grafton Clippers vs. Jamestown Eagles
Grafton had lost four straight, but after bumping their record up to 2-6 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They walked away with a 48-35 win over the Jamestown Eagles. The Clippers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Grafton found their leader in sophomore Joshua Lawson, who picked up a sack, made eight total tackles (2.0 for loss), and defended two passes in addition to snagging two interceptions. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Harrison Kent Jr, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.
Grafton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 256 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Grafton didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Lawson led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. He is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made six or more in each of the last 12 games he's played dating back to last season.
As for Jamestown, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5. Even if they couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their offense, which had struggled int the games prior.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ben Hanchett, who threw for 227 yards and four touchdowns, and also rushed for 63 yards and one score. Jamestown's leading receiver Vincent Creel was Hanchett's top target yet again, picking up 103 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.
Grafton has already played their next game, a 26-13 defeat against Bruton on the 24th. As for Jamestown, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 98-82 loss against Smithfield on the 24th.
