Basketball Recap: Rivercrest Takes a Loss

Rivercrest lost against Brookland back in November of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Rivercrest Colts'2024 ended with a 64-47 loss against the Brookland Bearcats. While losing is never fun, the Colts can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while the Bearcats are ranked 35th).

Despite the loss, Rivercrest still got an impressive performance from Destiny Burks, who went 7 for 15 on her way to 19 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Gonzalez, who posted six points and four steals.

Rivercrest's record now sits at 7-5. As for Brookland, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.

Rivercrest didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-44 defeat against Marked Tree on the 2nd. As for Brookland, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 60-40 victory against Westside on the 29th.
