Basketball Game Preview: Lawrence Academy Warriors vs. Pungo Christian Academy Raiders

Lawrence Academy and Pungo Christian Academy are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2022, but not for long. The Lawrence Academy Warriors are taking a road trip to face off against the Pungo Christian Academy Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lawrence Academy is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last eight games.

Lawrence Academy is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Ridgecroft: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Lawrence Academy blew Ridgecroft out of the water with a 60-18 final score. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 24 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Claire Smith, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 22 boards. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 17 games she's played. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.7 points per game. As for Pungo Christian Academy, they pushed their record up to 8-15 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Lawrence Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Pungo Christian Academy in their previous meeting on Wednesday, winning 58-51. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Pungo Christian Academy's Allison Sawyer, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 14 boards.
