Baseball Recap: West Harrison Triumphs

West Harrison proved they can win big last Monday (they won by 12) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Gautier Gators 3-1. While the Hurricanes didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Dezi Curley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up nine Ks. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Reece Parker, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

West Harrison's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Gautier, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

West Harrison will head out on the road to take on Stone at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Gautier, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Moss Point at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Moss Point is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
