Tri-State Christian's loss ends four-game winning streak at home

Recap: Tri-State Christian Crusaders vs. Greenwood Mennonite Flames

It was a good run, but the Tri-State Christian Crusaders unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 39-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Greenwood Mennonite. While losing is never fun, Tri-State Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 182nd in Maryland, while Greenwood Mennonite is ranked 24th in Delaware).

Greenwood Mennonite's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Faith Troyer, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. Troyer hasn't dropped below two steals for 15 straight games. Another player making a difference was Carli Welfley, who scored ten points along with five assists and five steals.

Tri-State Christian's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-6. As for Greenwood Mennonite, they pushed their record up to 16-2 with that victory, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tri-State Christian has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Avon Grove Charter at 5:30 p.m. on February 13th. Avon Grove Charter comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 15 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Greenwood Mennonite, they will be playing at home against Fairwinds Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Greenwood Mennonite is facing Fairwinds Christian at the right time seeing as Fairwinds Christian is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
