Basketball Game Preview: Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats vs. Unadilla Valley Storm

After both having extra time off, the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats and the Unadilla Valley Storm will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Bainbridge-Guilford will be strutting in after a win while Unadilla Valley will be coming in after a defeat.

Bainbridge-Guilford is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Bainbridge-Guilford blew Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton out of the water with a 52-11 final score. That looming 52-11 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Bobcats yet this season.

Bainbridge-Guilford relied on the efforts of Jayslin Henderson, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds, and Marissa Mayo, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 boards. With that strong performance, Henderson is now averaging an impressive 8.1 boards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Laila Williams, who posted four points and ten rebounds.

Bainbridge-Guilford smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 29 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in nine consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Unadilla Valley came up short against Greene last Saturday, falling 51-29. While losing is never fun, the Storm can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 314th, while the Trojans are ranked 86th).

Bainbridge-Guilford's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Unadilla Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Bainbridge-Guilford took their win against Unadilla Valley in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 41-18. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bainbridge-Guilford since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
