Basketball Game Preview: Bishop McDevitt Crusaders vs. Trinity Shamrocks

Bishop McDevitt hasn't had much luck against Trinity recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Bishop McDevitt Crusaders will face off against the Trinity Shamrocks at 8:00 p.m. Bishop McDevitt knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Trinity likes a good challenge.

Last Thursday, Bishop McDevitt strolled past Camp Hill with points to spare, taking the game 65-49. Given the Crusaders' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 186th, while the Lions are ranked 490th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Trinity came up short against Glenelg Country on Saturday and fell 53-41. The matchup marked the Shamrocks' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Bishop McDevitt will have to contain Owen Schlager as he made an impact in Trinity's last game. He went 7 for 14 en route to 22 points and seven rebounds. Schlager's afternoon made it 12 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Nicholas Smith was another key player, putting up six points.

Trinity's defeat dropped their record down to 12-4. As for Bishop McDevitt, their win bumped their record up to 8-5.

Bishop McDevitt came up short against Trinity in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 76-67. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Schlager, who almost dropped a double-double on 25 points and nine boards. Now that Bishop McDevitt knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
