Basketball Recap: Bayshore Takes a Loss

Bayshore lost against North Port back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Bayshore Bruins fell just short of the North Port Bobcats by a score of 66-63. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bruins have suffered against the Bobcats since January 16, 2020.

When it comes to explaining why Bayshore lost, don't look at Kaiden Friedman. Despite the final result, he went 8 for 12 en route to 18 points and five steals. Those five steals gave Friedman a new career-high. Jayce Brave was another key player, going 5 of 9 on his way to 10 points.

Bayshore has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-18 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.1 points per game. As for North Port, their victory bumped their record up to 5-16.

Bayshore wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 62-32 defeat against Parrish Community on the 28th. As for North Port, they will challenge Community School of Naples at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. North Port knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Community School of Naples likes a good challenge.
