Softball Recap: Mishawaka Continues Road Dominance on Saturday

21 must be Mishawaka's lucky number: they beat Huntington North with that score not once but twice on Saturday. The Cavemen blew past the Vikings 21-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cavemen.

Lilly St. Clair was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). St. Clair was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-5. She also put up two RBI, which were her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Shea Crawford, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Millie Bultinck was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs.

Mishawaka always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .675. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Huntington North only posted an OBP of .407.

Mishawaka pushed their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 11 runs. As for Huntington North, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mishawaka will venture away from home to challenge Tippecanoe Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Huntington North, they will head out to take on Fort Wayne Northrop at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
