Basketball Recap: St. Thomas Aquinas' Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

St. Thomas Aquinas had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 44.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top against the Blanche Ely Tigers by a score of 62-51. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while the Tigers are ranked 64th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

St. Thomas Aquinas' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was London Thomas, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. What's more, Thomas also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sara Lee Blair, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards.

St. Thomas Aquinas smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 13 consecutive matchups.

Blanche Ely lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Trezure Reese, who shot 4-for-7 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. The contest was Reese's third in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Teriyah Mcfadden, who posted ten points and five assists.

St. Thomas Aquinas' record now sits at 15-7. As for Blanche Ely, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-6.
