Salem has been on the road for three straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will welcome the Charlestown Pirates at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Salem finally turned things around against Eastern on Friday. They claimed a resounding 37-7 victory over the Musketeers on the road. The Lions' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Salem found their leader in underclassman Logan Dent, who rushed for 131 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Mull, who rushed for 81 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.

Salem didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Mull and Ethan Campbell. That's the most rushing yards Mull has posted since back in September of 2023.

Meanwhile, Charlestown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell to Corydon Central 49-43. Even if the Pirates couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their offense, which had struggled int the games prior.

Charlestown might have lost, but man, Boomer Hester was a machine: he rushed for 288 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 8.5 yards per carry. Hester was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 60 yards. Another player making a difference was Ryan Shields, who rushed for 104 yards on only 14 carries.

Salem's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-5. As for Charlestown, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.

Salem might still be hurting after the 46-22 loss they got from Charlestown in their previous meeting back in October of 2023. Thankfully for Salem, Clay Mcclelland (who rushed for 108 yards and five touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also threw for 117 yards on perfect 8-for-8 passing) won't be suiting up this time.
