Recap: Tolleson Wolverines vs. Mountain View Toros
The Tolleson Wolverines''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 31-14 bruising from Mountain View. While losing is never fun, Tolleson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona football rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while Mountain View is ranked 22nd).
Tolleson's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Amari Mitchell, who gained 95 total yards and a touchdown.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mountain View to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jack Germaine, who threw for 187 yards and two touchdowns. Mikey Sumko did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 90 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Tolleson's loss was their tenth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-7. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 12.5 points per game. As for Mountain View, the win was the fourth in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 6-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tolleson will take on Westwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mountain View, they will be playing at home against Cesar Chavez at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cesar Chavez is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
