Football Recap: Winnfield Tigers vs. Jonesboro-Hodge Tigers
Winnfield owes their defense a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They breezed by the Jonesboro-Hodge Tigers on the road to the tune of 27-0. The win was a breath of fresh air for Winnfield as it put an end to their six-game losing streak dating back to last season.
A big part of the victory came down to the chemistry between Damascus Lewis and his top target Jaylon Jackson. Lewis rushed for 75 yards and a touchdown while Jackson gained 128 total yards. Lewis got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run and that went for an incredible 68 yards.
Winnfield was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 242 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since was before the start of last season.
Winnfield's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2.
Winnfield will challenge Caldwell Parish at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both are at an even 4-4 against one another since September of 2015. As for Jonesboro-Hodge, they will venture away from home to challenge West Ouachita at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
