South Florida teams rise in first rankings update since June.

It was a good weekend for South Florida football, which is now represented by four teams in the Top 10 of the MaxPreps Xcellent 25 National Football Rankings presented by the Army National Guard.

On Saturday, Miami Central traveled to Alabama and narrowly edged previous No. 3 Hoover 24-21 thanks to a late field goal. Hours later, Booker T. Washington lit up the scoreboard with a 57-21 victory over previously ranked Oscar Smith.

No. 1-ranked Cedar Hill begins its season on Saturday against South Oak Cliff, and most of the other Top 25 teams get underway this weekend.
