Softball Recap: Thomasville Comes Up Short

Thomasville extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 13 on Wednesday, dropping them down to 0-6. They lost 16-0 to the Wheatmore Warriors. The Bulldogs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Warriors from their previous meeting back in March of 2016.

As for Wheatmore, their record is now 4-2. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their one-run performance the contest before.

For Wheatmore's part, Lylah Gower and Adalyn Boles were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Gower tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Boles tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Gower got on base in both of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Boles got on base in both of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave Boles a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Skylar Pittman, who got on base in both of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Emma Carter also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Wheatmore beat Thomasville by a score of 17-0 later that day.
