Preview: Maxwell Wildcats vs. Loomis Wolves

Maxwell is 0-9 against Loomis since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Maxwell Wildcats will be playing at home against the Loomis Wolves at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Maxwell focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Thursday.

Last Thursday, Maxwell came up short against Medicine Valley and fell 57-50.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Levi Huffman, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Huffman, who scored 14 points.

Loomis can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 48-47 win over Pleasanton.

Loomis' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tyson Essex led the charge by scoring 14 points. Ben Trompke was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with nine rebounds.

Maxwell's defeat dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Loomis, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Maxwell have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 25 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Loomis struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24.9 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Maxwell lost to Loomis at home by a decisive 63-44 margin when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Will Maxwell have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
