Basketball Game Preview: Edinburg Wildcats vs. Nokomis Redskins

Edinburg hasn't had much luck against Nokomis recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Edinburg Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Nokomis Redskins at 7:30 p.m. Edinburg knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Nokomis likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, Edinburg was able to grind out a solid win over Litchfield, taking the game 68-60. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 149th, while the Purple Panthers are ranked 378th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Nokomis was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 64-46 bruising from Mater Dei.

Edinburg's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points per game. As for Nokomis, they now have a losing record at 9-10.
