Baseball Recap: Denver Academy Starts Season with Victory Against DSST: Montview

Denver Academy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the DSST: Montview Knights as the Denver Academy Mustangs made off with an 11-5 win.

Josh Ortman was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Ortman was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, John Henry Pogue was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits. Mason Nutter was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Denver Academy will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Rocky Mountain Lutheran at 4:00 p.m. on April 3rd. As for DSST: Montview, they are taking a road trip to take on Englewood at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
