Football Game Preview: Cisco Loboes vs. Christoval Cougars

The Cisco Loboes will head out to face off against the Christoval Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Cisco has nine straight victories, Christoval has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Friday, Cisco humbled Olney with a 56-24 victory. The result was nothing new for the Loboes, who have now won five matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.

Colby McIlroy produced another solid performance throwing for 143 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only six passes. That's the most passing yards he has posted since back in September.

Cisco was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 203 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 154 rushing yards in five consecutive games.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 20 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Carter Toof, who ran a punt back for a touchdown. Another bright spot was a kickoff return touchdown from him.

Meanwhile, Christoval fell victim to Ozona and their airtight defense on Friday. They were outmatched by the Lions and fell 68-0. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 973rd, while the Lions are ranked 279th).

Cisco's record now sits at 9-1. As for Christoval, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
