Football Game Preview: Mastery Warrior vs. Gateway Regional Gators

The Mastery Warrior will venture away from home to square off against the Gateway Regional Gators at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mastery comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

On Thursday, Mastery lost to Haddon Township on the road by a 28-14 margin.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gateway Regional). They took their contest on Saturday with ease, bagging a 45-7 victory over Gloucester Catholic. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Gateway Regional's win came from a few key players Mastery will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Aidan Barbato, who rushed for 86 yards.

Gateway Regional was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 262 rushing yards. They are a perfect 3-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Gateway Regional didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Devin Forman, Jack Yerka, and Dj Binck picked up one apiece.

Mastery's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Gateway Regional, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-3 record.

Mastery took a serious blow against Gateway Regional in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 33-0. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Barbato, who rushed for 180 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 7.2 yards per carry.
