Softball Game Preview: McMinn County Cherokees vs. Chattanooga Central Pounders

The McMinn County Cherokees will face off against the Chattanooga Central Pounders at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. McMinn County is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.

McMinn County came up short against Soddy Daisy on Thursday, falling 16-4.

Addie Miller made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Chattanooga Central never let their opponents score on Thursday. They put the hurt on Tyner Academy with a sharp 12-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Pounders, who have now won six contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Navaeh Frank was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in both of her plate appearances. Frank is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Chattanooga Central got a massive performance out of Emma Lakin, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Carli Morgan, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Chattanooga Central's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for McMinn County, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.
