Basketball Recap: Tennessee Skates Past Sullivan East with Ease

Tennessee came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 points) and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Sullivan East Patriots 77-28. The match marked the Vikings' most dominant victory of the season.

Leading Tennessee to victory were Colin Brown and Reed Miller. Brown went 9 of 19 en route to 25 points and three steals, while Miller almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards. The game was Brown's third in a row with at least ten points. Braden Howard was another key player, going 5 for 10 on his way to 11 points and three steals.

Tennessee was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sullivan East only racked up ten assists.

Despite the defeat, Sullivan East saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Eli Hubbard posted eight points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Logan Shuttle, who scored four points.

Tennessee has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests, which somehow still isn't as good as their 16-5 record this season. As for Sullivan East, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-16.

Tennessee wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 68-63 win against Elizabethton on the 21st. As for Sullivan East, they will challenge Unicoi County at 8:00 p.m. on January 24th. Unicoi County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Sullivan East likes a good challenge.
