Baseball Recap: Live Oak's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Live Oak came into Wednesday's match having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victors by a 16-2 margin over the Del Mar Dons on Wednesday. This was a revenge game for the Acorns: when they faced off against the Dons on Monday, they had to take a 9-8 loss.

Austin Meads looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Live Oak got a massive performance out of Nathan Newberg, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Newberg has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Bennett Nishikawa, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Live Oak's victory bumped their record up to 10-15. As for Del Mar, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-20.

As of now, neither Live Oak nor the Dons have any future games scheduled.
