Basketball Game Preview: Blountstown Tigers vs. Crossroad Academy Scorpions

The Blountstown Tigers will challenge the Crossroad Academy Scorpions at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Blountstown is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.6 points per game this season.

Blountstown heads in on the heels of a playoff game on Friday. They fell just short of Munroe by a score of 46-44. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Tigers have suffered since December 20, 2024.

Despite their loss, Blountstown saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Braxton Sercye, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The dominant performance also gave Sercye a new career-high in blocks (four). Another player making a difference was Cyion Smith, who went 6 for 12 to rack up 13 points along with eight boards and three steals.

Meanwhile, Crossroad Academy waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 68-56 victory over the Tiger Sharks.

Crossroad Academy's win came from a few key players Blountstown will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Tyrek Jessie, who went 7 of 8 en route to 16 points and five assists. Forrest Dudley was another key player, going 6 for 9 on his way to 17 points.

Blountstown's defeat dropped their record down to 16-6. As for Crossroad Academy, their win bumped their record up to 14-9.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Blountstown has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 29.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Crossroad Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24.7 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

Blountstown suffered a grim 74-49 defeat to Crossroad Academy when the teams last played back in January of 2020. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Blountstown was down 42-14.
